Abstract

Throughout this book, I argue for pursuing an understanding of real behavior – mathematics as it shows up and is brought to bear in the different situations in which we find ourselves – rather than some ideal essence. This mathematics is not decontextualized, as in schools where it is practiced at particular times (hours) of the day.
