Abstract

Bioethics in the clinical setting has now reached a stage of conceptual development that leads to proposals for how to implement those concepts in clinical practice (McCullough, et al., 1995; Kane and Caplan, 1990; 1993). The proposed clinical strategies now must be put to the test. Thus, one can look to the future of geroethics and expect to see increased work on the design, implementation, and clinical investigation of such strategies. Outcomes-based geroethics research will become the norm. Such research should be expected not only to improve patient care but also to enrich the ongoing conceptual development of the field.
