Abstract

The Philosophers’ Gift is a precise and in-depth critical examination of the way various French philosophers (Derrida, Levinas, Marion, Ricœur, Lefort, Descombes) and entire traditions of thought (phenomenology, deconstruction, Marxism) in France and elsewhere have understood—and misunderstood—the concept and practice of giving.
