Using each other's words
pp. 341-349
in: Arnold Koslow, Arthur Buchsbaum (eds), The road to universal logic I, Basel, Birkhäuser, 2015Abstract
Natural languages are polyphonic: typically, no two speakers associate identical meanings with all the words they are using. Also, the meanings of words may change over time. Yet, we are still missing a formal framework with which to handle this variety. This paper is making a first step by introducing the logic of so-called deflectors. These are devices to borrow someone else's language.
