Abstract

Over the last two decades infantile autism has developed into one of the most fascinating subjects in the field of child psychiatry, and this general interest is reflected in the ever-increasing amount of literature being written on the subject. As a guide I would refer in particular to the monographs by Rimland (1964), Wing (ed.) (1966), O'Gorman (1967), and Bettelheim (1967) as well as to the general summaries by Fischer (1964), Rutter (1968), Koupernik and Eisenberg (1969) and the studies by van Krevelen (1963 and 1964).
