Abstract

There is perhaps no more distinctive indication of the underlying character of the modern philosophical tradition than the fact that it places upon the philosopher the demand for an epistemology. Is this perhaps an exorbitant demand, this demand for a knowing of knowing, for an application of knowing to itself?
