The concept of the Learning Organisation has been heralded as the most significant contribution to the future success, and even survival, of organisations in today's global market-place (Senge, 1992). Broadly defined, a learning organisation is one that readily adapts to external and internal influences, by detecting and correcting errors (Argyris & Schön, 1978). It is believed that this can be achieved through a better knowledge and understanding of the system with which it interacts.
