Abstract

For the last two decades systems methodologies have largely been the domain of academics (Ellis, 1995). Their use in practical problem solving has been chiefly restricted to the areas of organisational restructuring or information systems design. Complex, systemic social, and environmental problems have, at best, only been treated at a theoretical level. Yet systems methodologies, when stripped of constraints put there by over zealous theoreticians, have huge potential in these fields.
