Type-2 fuzzy sets were developed initially in 1975 by Zadeh [11]. They responded to the major shortcoming of type-1 fuzzy sets by offering a conceptual scheme within which the effects of uncertainties in fuzzy inferencing may be modelled and minimised ([7], p. 117). However, there are a number of issues to be resolved by researchers in type-2 fuzzy logic. This chapter concerns itself with two aspects of type-2 fuzzy sets – how can we describe them from a logic perspective and how can we characterise the uncertainty associated with a type-2 fuzzy set?
