Abstract

Always a controversial and divisive figure, Mary Daly is one of the first feminist philosophers of religion and has been deeply influential upon later religious and feminist thought—positively and negatively. Although she is best known for her book Beyond God the Father, this chapter proposes that Daly's most important and key work directly engages and expounds upon 1960s radical theology. Further, here Daly's lesser-known, and more radical philosophy, is explained, along with a discussion of her critics, especially Audre Lorde.
