Abstract

Heidegger once defined phenomenology as possibility. He says in Sein und Zeit: "Higher than reality stands possibility. The understanding of phenomenology lies solely in grasping it as possibility."¹I think that this is the best possible definition of phenomenology. It means that to "do phenomenology" is to construe it as a possibility, and to develop that possibility. In this paper, I would like to develop the possibility of phenomenology as a "metaphysics."
