Both post- and transhumanism are by now fairly well-known terms and established discourses in academia. However, not many books have yet appeared that provide a thorough guide to current debates within these exciting areas of intellectual engagement, in particular not those that address both movements at once and in relation to each other. As a matter of fact, the collection of essays with the title Post- and Transhumanism. An Introduction under review here might very well be the first to explicitly do this. It appears, with some delay that is, as the first volume in a series entitled Beyond Humanism: Trans- and Posthumanism (edited by the German metahumanist philosopher Stefan Lorenz Sorgner) and was preceded already by four other volumes. One can expect that there is more to follow here in the future.
